Eight Feet of Bed. Eight Feet of Options.

Eight Feet of Bed. Eight Feet of Options.

(Don’t) Mind the Gap.

We get folks asking all the time, “Why doesn’t your Drawer System for eight-foot beds have eight-foot drawers?” That’s a fair ask, and it comes down to a simple, universal concept: physics. Specifically, leverage.

With our smooth-rolling, never-binding design, an eight-foot drawer would require a significant portion of the drawer to remain under the top deck to support the extended end. Not a great way to go—unless you’re a fan of spelunking to retrieve gear at the cab-end of the drawer. So, what’s the solution?

Simple. It’s our tried-and-true six-foot Drawer System with two options for filling the gap between the end of the Drawer System and the cab-side bed wall: the DECKED Tool Box or the Load Floor extension. Read on to learn how these two workhorse designs—and a few DIY options—can turn that 24-inch no-man’s-land into your favorite part of your setup.

THE INTEGRATED ARSENAL: Tool Box

No one likes a know-it-all. But you know who they do like? A “got-it-all,” the ones who have all their tools and gear organized, easy to access, and ready to work. If your aim is to bring the ultimate "command center" utility to the jobsite, this is the gold standard.

The Tool Box fit perfectly into the gap, giving you an extra 288 liters and 800 pounds of secure, weatherproof storage for anything from power tools and chainsaws to floor jacks and extra DECKED Cases and Milwaukee PACKOUT. It’s literal-sledgehammer-tough, and puts an end to the "where did I put that?" scavenger hunt. By completing your eight-foot system with the Tool Box, you create a multi-tier storage fortress.

THE BEDRAIL-TO-BEDRAIL BASE: Load Floor

For those who need a massive, uninterrupted surface for everything from lumber and sheet goods to longer pallets of material, the Load Floor is the answer. This is a flush-fit top deck extension that bridges the gap between the Drawer System and your cab, creating one continuous flat surface from bed rail to bed rail.

And this is all killer, no filler. The Load Floor doubles as a functional upgrade, featuring two additional weatherproof Stash Bins that provide extra nooks for essentials like shackles, straps, or extra gloves that usually end up rolling around the floorboards. If a full-width, full-length surface is your priority, the Load Floor gives you the full eight-foot support you need to keep your workday moving.

THE CUSTOM RIG: Transfer Tanks and DIY

Sometimes the job requires a specific kind of fuel. Literally. The 2-foot gap is the prime location for a transfer tank, allowing you to refuel equipment on-site without sacrificing the organized storage of the Drawer System.

And if you aren't hauling diesel, the DIY possibilities are endless. We’ve seen pros use that space for:

  • Custom steel racks for specialized heavy machinery
  • Full welding rigs
  • Auxiliary battery banks for remote power
  • Air compressors and tanks for onsite pneumatic tools

So let your imagination run wild. With your tools safe and sound in the Drawer System, that gap just might become the foundation to dream up and fab up whatever custom solution your specific trade demands.

An 8-foot bed is a blank canvas for productivity. Whether you want maximum secure storage with the Tool Box, the seamless utility of the Load Floor, or to go all-out with a custom DIY setup, the goal is the same: stop working around your truck and start making your truck work for you.
