We can say it’s built with fiber-reinforced sheet molding compound resin, but what you need to know is that it’s as strong as steel, light as same-gauge aluminum, and will not dent, rust, crack, or fade. Supports 800 lbs in the tub, and 300 lbs on the lid.

The DECKED Tool Box fits nearly every full-size truck built from 2001 to today. It does not fit Rambox, service bodies, the GMC CarbonPro bed, Chevy Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Heritage Edition, or Nissan Titan.
For older trucks, fitment is possible if the inside distance between your bed rails measures 61.375"–70.5" (measured from the left inside bed rail to the right inside bed rail).
What is the DECKED Tool Box made of?
The DECKED Tool Box is built from compression-molded SMC (glass-fiber reinforced composite) for steel-like strength with better thermal stability—no dents, no corrosion, and 100% weather-proof. The only metal used is in the gas struts. We skipped steel on purpose: SMC is lighter, stronger, and fully element-proof, making this the last tool box you’ll ever need.
Is the Tool Box weatherproof?
The DECKED Tool Box is fully weatherproof, keeping your gear protected from rain, snow, car washes, and extreme moisture. Integrated lid gaskets create a tight seal against water and dirt, while UV inhibitors prevent sun damage and fading. Molded drainage channels channel water away from the hinges to keep everything dry and secure.
Is the Tool Box compatible with a gooseneck or fifth wheel?
Yes, provided there’s adequate clearance.
Any gooseneck or fifth-wheel setup must allow at least 24" of depth and 6" of height to accommodate the DECKED Tool Box. The Tool Box sits 6" above the bed rails and occupies 24" of space from the cab-side bed wall to the front edge of the box, which includes a 2" gap for backup camera clearance.
Important: If your trailer swings wide during turns, be sure to allow additional clearance to prevent contact with the Tool Box during tight maneuvers.
Is the Tool Box compatible with Back Rack, Headache Rack, or Ladder Racks?
- The Tool Box is compatible with Back Racks if they have the optional flush mount kit.
- The majority of Headache Rack options are NOT compatible with the Tool Box.
- Compatibility with Ladder Racks depends on the rack you have.

Can the Tool Box be installed with an access tonneau cover pushed up against it?
DECKED has found Truxedo to offer custom lo-pro covers. Please contact your local Truxedo dealer for exact measurements.
NOTE: If your truck bed rail width is greater than 65.5", it may not create the perfect seal against our tool box. Please see a local dealer for more information on sizing and compatibility.
